Q. are your products organic?
A. no, however, we use all quality natural botanical extracts in our products. we do not use parabens, sulfates, dyes or synthetic fragrances, ingredients that have been known to cause cancer or severe skin and allergy reactions. the ingredients in our products have been assessed, evaluated and deemed safe to use by the cosmetic ingredients review experts (cir-safety.org).
Q. why doesn't your shampoo have as much foam as my previous shampoos?
A. our shampoo contains natural surfactant derived from locust bean gum of the carob tree and other natural botanical ingredients. it doesn't contain harsh chemical detergents that other shampoos do. It's very gentle, and it does take some getting used to. our goal is to educate people to use products that are kinder to their hair and scalp.
Q. do your products work on color treated hair?
A. since most people color their hair, our products were designed with that in mind. water opens up the cuticles, and allows lather to actually remove color pigments. therefore, the more your shampoo lathers, the quicker your color will fade.
Q. your shampoo is much thicker than i am accustomed to. what is the best way to apply the product to my hair?
A. many of the products on the market contain mainly water, chemicals and synthetic fragrances. therefore, the viscosity is very low. our shampoo is more concentrated, so be sure to wet your hair thoroughly. take an amount the size of a nickel or quarter, depending on the thickness of your hair, spread it evenly in your palms then apply to your scalp. add more shampoo if neccessary. there's no need to shampoo the ends.
Q. my hair and scalp don't feel squeaky clean. is that normal?
A. your scalp, your hair and even the skin on your entire body should never be squeaky clean!! harsh products tend to strip your hair of all its natural oils. It's the main reason why clients complain about how itchy their scalp feels, and how dry their hair becomes. our products are much gentler on your scalp and hair.
Q. How often should i wash my hair?
A. if you have normal to slightly dry scalp, we recommend every other day. wavy and curly hair tends to be on the dry side, so wash it twice a week and condition daily. this is important to keep in mind. your curls will love you for it. only people with oily scalp should shampoo every day.
Q. how do i restyle my hair on the days I don't shampoo?
A. rinse your scalp and hair thoroughly to remove excess oils and product buildup. condition the ends, rinse, add styling products and style as usual.
Q. i have dandruff and use a dandruff shampoo, but it doesn't seem to help. my scalp still gets very itchy and dry. Will your shampoo help my condition?
A. most people associate itchy scalp and dry flakes with dandruff conditions. typically,
dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) is a skin condition that forms on oily areas of the scalp.
therefore, dandruff shampoos are medicated and contain active ingredients such as coal
tar, salicylic acid, resorcin, zinc, or selenium, designed to strip your scalp of oils and
bacteria. if you don’t have oily scalp, which most people don’t, using dandruff shampoos
will further irritate your scalp and worsen your conditions. our shampoo is so gentle that
you can use it on your face. our clients have reported that their scalp is much healthier after
a few weeks.
Q. can i leave the conditioner on longer than the suggested time?
A. yes. Place a plastic cap over your hair then a warm towel on top. heat will help the
conditioner to penetrate your hair shafts.
Q. my hair has an uneven texture. are your products good for my hair?
A. absolutely. that's where customization comes in. for example, if you have a combination of oily scalp and dry ends, we would customize your shampoo and
conditioner separately. the oily hair enrichment (contains witch hazel and natural
apple cider vinegar to break down oils) would be added to your shampoo and dry hair
enrichment (contains glycerin and other natural humectants to condition and restore
moisture) to your conditioner or reconstructor.
Q. when will I receive my products?
A. we ship via usps priority mail. it takes 2-3 business days. you can choose fedex options for your shipment.
